What do I do if I have a problem or questions after surgery?

There is ALWAYS someone available to help you after surgery...ALWAYS. If you think you have ANY problem at all after surgery, you should do the following:

  1. Call the office and ask for a member of the team. We have several people here during regular business hours to assist you. If possible, please try to call between 7AM and 4PM. For immediate assistance, make a call. For other questions or concerns, please feel free to email and expect a response back via email or call within 24 hours.
  2. What if no one answers and I have an emergency? Please continue to call and if you get no response, contact the answering service at 248.377.8000
  3. 24 Hour Nurse Available: 248.601.8844

  4. What if I have a problem and it is after regular business hours or on a weekend or holiday? There is always someone available to help you. Call 248.377.8000 and speak with the off-hour answering service. They will then route you to whoever on the team is on call for immediate assistance. If you do not getthrough to someone, call Rochester Hospital at 248.652.5000. Tell them you are a patient of ours and they will try to contact us through the hospital directory. If they cannot find someone to assist you, ask them to call your doctor (Dr. Frisch) directly. They have our phone and cell phone numbers available.
  5. Do not go to any emergency room unless absolutely necessary. If you go to an emergency room you will have to wait several hours to see someone who is not a specialist and does not have the experience or expertise that Dr. Frisch or his team has.

The ER does not know about your surgery.

    1. The only reasons to go to an emergency room is if you have chest pain, shortness of breath or some other medical problem.
    2. If you must go to an emergency room, please make every effort to come to Hospital where Dr. Frisch can direct your care.
